April 7th - Spring 2017
18th Street

SOUTH 18TH STREET IS NOW OPEN! The reconstruction of 18th Street between Veterans Memorial Parkway and County Road 430 South is complete and open to traffic. This revitalized stretch of roadway now includes four wide lanes for more efficient traffic flow, enhanced underground sewer work, sidewalks and a walking/biking trail that includes a beautiful new pedestrian bridge. The 430 South intersection has been greatly improved with a roundabout and signalized crossings to increase safety and visibility, especially for students walking to and from Wea Ridge Elementary School.

Crews will continue with finishing touches and cleanup work in the area through mid-November, as well as tree planting. Drivers should watch their speed and be aware of ongoing construction crews and an increase in pedestrian traffic. Be aware of the South 18th and 430 South roundabout intersection, follow signage and yield to pedestrians. When the pedestrian signals are flashing drivers should be prepared to stop and yield to individuals crossing the roadway. Drive safely and be alert.

Thank you for your patience during this large road reconstruction. We look forward to the new amenities and improved traffic flow this area brings to our community and the surrounding neighborhoods.
