Citizens Police Academy

The Lafayette Police Department's Citizen's Academy is an educational outreach program designed to provide citizens a greater understanding of the inner-workings of their police department and of the role law enforcement plays within the criminal justice system.

Classes

The Citizen's Academy meets 1 evening per week for 9-weeks, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. These classroom sessions are held in the City Council Chambers located at 20 N 6th St, Lafayette, IN. In addition to the classroom sessions, participants are encouraged to participate in "ride-alongs" with our patrol officers- providing a real-life perspective on contemporary policing.

Registration for 2022's class is not open yet but we are anticipate holding a class this summer.
