Lafayette Police Arrest Shooting/Robbery Suspect

On Thursday July 2nd, 2020 at 6:18pm, Officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to the intersection of N 27th St and Brown St for a report of a male victim that had been shot once in the arm.  The victim, Jacob Reynolds (33) was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators learned from the victim and a witness that Reynolds was riding his bicycle in the area when the suspect, Ian Allen (31) drove up to Reynolds and shot him once.  Allen reportedly stole 2 backpacks from Reynolds and then fled the scene.  Less than two hours later officers located Allen’s vehicle at the Travel Lodge Hotel in the 4300 block of State Road 26 E, Lafayette. Allen was located in the parking lot and was taken into custody without incident.  Based on the information obtained during the investigation it is believed that this was not a random incident.

Ian Allen was arrested on the following charges:

Armed robbery

Aggravated battery

Criminal recklessness while armed with a deadly weapon

Carrying a handgun without a license

Pointing a firearm
