Lafayette Police Investigating a Homicide

   
LAFAYETTE, INDIANA – January 22, 2021 – 

 

On January 22nd at approximately 1:20am, The Lafayette Police Department responded to 2414 Union Street for a report of a female suffering from a medical problem.  Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult female with an apparent gunshot wound.   The identity of the victim is still pending release from the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office.  

 

At approximately 8:00am, Lafayette Police officers located a person of interest in the 200 block of Perrin Avenue.  That person was arrested on an unrelated warrant, and is currently being held at the Tippecanoe County Jail.

 

This incident does not appear to be a random act of violence, and the Lafayette Police does not believe that the general public is in any type of danger.

 

This investigation is still ongoing.  Anyone with any information in regards to this incident is asked to contact the Lafayette Police Department at 765-807-1200, or through the anonymous WeTIP Hotline at 800-78-CRIME. 

 

 

 

 The fact a person has been arrested or charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
