A city-sponsored 4th of July parade will occur on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at 11am. Participants will line up at 10am for the route beginning at 16th & Alabama Streets, up Main Street, turning onto Wallace Avenue by the Frozen Custard and traveling to Park Avenue where it will conclude in Columbian Park. Participation is FREE but registration is required at https://tippecanoeco.seamlessdocs.com/f/Parade .
This year's theme is Honoring Our Local Heroes. “We want to encourage companies and organizations to honor their front line workers by having them participate in the parade so the community can express our gratitude for all they have done during the pandemic,” states City Clerk Cindy Murray, organizer of this year’s events.
A favorite community component, the children's box parade, is being revived! Children are welcome to join the parade in their cardboard box floats - no registration required. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters and friends, start gathering your patriotic supplies and put on your crafty hats to create a box float to walk, roll, pull or push in the parade. Give yourself bonus points if your box float reflects the parade theme!
