On Thursday, August 27, 2015, an officer with the Lafayette Police Department’s Community Outreach will be riding with a patrol officer and updating the department’s Twitter feed with the activity in which officers are involved. Followers of the department’s Twitter page, @LafayetteINPD, will get updates of events and incidents within the community in real time. Updates from this detail will be posted from 3:30pm to 9pm EST.
Details and photographs of incidents will be disseminated through the Lafayette Police Department’s Twitter page and will be identified by the hashtag #RideWithLPD. Specific details that may put victims or witnesses in any danger or compromise any investigation will not be posted. This “virtual” ride-along will give citizens an idea of what patrol officers do on any given night, making the police department more transparent.
People interested in following the #RideWithLPD “virtual” ride-along can follow the Lafayette Police Department’s Twitter page at www.twitter.com/LafayetteINPD or follow @LafayetteINPD.
