[ARCHIVED] Home Invasion Assault & Arrest

At approximately 10:39am this morning the Lafayette Police Department was called to 1418 Alabama Street for an assault in progress. Information received via the victim on 911 was that a male subject who she identified as Sidney Lee Abrons had forced his way in to her residence and was choking her. The caller also stated that Abrons threatened her with a gun and had just left her residence.

Officers responded quickly to the area and observed a subject matching the description of the suspect fleeing the scene on foot. A two block perimeter was established and with the assistance of LPD K-9 unit the suspect was later taken in to custody without incident.

Abrons (35 years of age & from Lafayette) was later transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail and arrested on charges of:

1. Strangulation
2. Intimidation with a deadly weapon
3. Confinement with a deadly weapon
4. Residential Entry
5. Misdemeanor Battery

The investigation is ongoing.

The fact a person has been arrested or charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
