On Thursday November 19, 2015 at approximately 2140 hours, officers with the Lafayette Police Department were sent to the Marathon station at 1103 Teal Road regarding a reported shoplifting. Dispatch advised that when the clerk confronted the male suspect, a handgun was displayed and pointed. Officers arrived at the gas station and met with the victim. A short time later, a trooper with the Indiana State Police was patrolling in the 2000-block of Veterans Memorial Parkway South, and located the suspect vehicle. Officers with the Lafayette Police Department and Indiana State Police continued their investigation, and subsequently arrested Jerome Montgomery, age 37, of Lafayette, on a variety of charges. These charges include Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon, Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, Attempted Theft, Possession of Spice, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Mr. Montgomery was transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail.
