On the above date at approximately 9:48pm, a patrol vehicle occupied by Officer James Jarrett and Officer Lane Butler was westbound on McCarty Lane going through the intersection of McCarty Lane and US52. A vehicle travelling southbound on US 52 disregarded a red light and struck the patrol car in the intersection.

Both officers were taken to St. Elizabeth East and were later released after being treated. A passenger in the southbound vehicle was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries and later released.

The driver of the southbound vehicle stated she was looking at the GPS on her phone. She observed the red light too late to stop. She travelled into the intersection and caused the collision. The driver, 18-year-old Shyanne Reynoso, was cited for Disregarding an Automatic Signal.

Both vehicles appear to be totaled and had to be towed from the scene.
