[ARCHIVED] Residential Entry Shots Fired

On Monday December 14th, 2015, at 8:29pm, officers were dispatched to 910 ½ Union Street reference an attempted robbery where shots had been fired.


The female advised that she had invited a friend to come to her apartment this evening. She said that there had been a knock at her door and that when she answered the door, she believed it was her friend. The victim said that she unlocked the door but did not open it and that approximately 5-7 subjects forced their way into her apartment. She told officers that these subjects attacked her and forced her to the floor. These subject then continued past her and ran into her apartment. The victim ran after them and began to fight with these subjects to stop them from taking anything. The victim advised that during this fight she was struck in the head by a handgun that one of the subjects was holding and that she then heard shots being fired but stated that she was not struck by any rounds. The subjects that had forced their way into the apartment then fled after the shots had been fired. The victim said that as of this time nothing was believed to have been taken from the apartment.


The victim was taken to IU/Arnett for treatment and was later released.


A juvenile subject who the victim advised was possibly involved was treated for a gunshot wound at St. Elizabeth East.
