The Columbian Park Zoo is accepting applications for fall interns in the areas of zoo education, animal care and marketing.

Internships are available to current college/university students and recent graduates, and all majors are encouraged to apply. Internships are unpaid, but provide an exciting way to gain the hands-on experience necessary to become competitive in today’s job market.

Zoo education interns work with Animal Ambassadors to present conservation messages to a variety of audiences at the Zoo and throughout Greater Lafayette. Animal care interns assist zookeepers with the daily husbandry tasks associated with a variety of domestic and exotic animals housed at the Zoo. Marketing interns assist in the various communication aspects of the Zoo, including social media, copywriting and graphic design.

Applicants should be dedicated and dependable students with strong communication skills and a minimum 2.5 GPA. Fall interns must be able to commit at least 15 hours per week over a minimum of 12 weeks. Full-time internships are also available. Fall internships are expected to take place late August through early December.

Applications are available at the Lafayette Parks and Recreation Administration Office or online at http://www.columbianparkzoo.org/1672/Internship-Programs. The deadline to submit a complete application packet for the fall internship program is 5:00 pm on Tuesday, April 5, 2016.
