On May 14th, officers with the Lafayette Police Department were called to the 2700-block of Underwood St in reference to a reported disturbance. During the investigation, a possible human-trafficking victim was identified. Subsequent investigation led to the arrests of two suspects believed to be involved in this incident.
On May 16th, at approximately 10:00pm, the following subjects were arrested:
Cornelius Maurice Johnson (33 years old and of Chicago, IL), arrested in the 4200-block of South St
- Sexual Trafficking of a Minor (Level 3 Felony)
Elyvin Cortez Jackson (30 years old and of Conway, AR), arrested at N 6th St and Salem St
- Sexual Trafficking of a Minor (Level 3 Felony)
