[ARCHIVED] Lafayette Police Department– Reaching out to seniors to help with crime prevention

Lafayette Police Department educating seniors on crime prevention, community outreach

This month, LPD outreach is teaming up with The Center at Jenks Rest to engage and educate seniors on the importance of community-driven policing through crime prevention and safety awareness.

Crime Prevention Sergeant, Scott Galloway is inviting seniors and caregivers to Jenks Rest on June 23rd, 2016 at 10:30 am, to address and help guide our senior population to better understand access to police services and the importance of seniors being able to easily communicate with the police department.

Many of our local senior population have resided in the same neighborhood for decades and are observant of what goes on. The discussion will include stressing the importance of seniors contacting police to report suspicious activity, understanding crimes that affect seniors, being active in their neighborhoods and easy, effective ways to connect to social media such as NextDoor.Com.
