[ARCHIVED] Stabbing Arrest at Devon Plaza

On Friday, June 17th, at about 10:50 pm, Lafayette Police responded to Devon Plaza at 2371 N 26th Street for a report of a stabbing. Officers arrived and found the reported victim had been stabbed in the neck. The victim and witnesses were able to report to officers the alleged suspect in the stabbing, James Coble [63] of Lafayette, had fled the area.

Officers, with the assistance of K-9 units, conducted a search of the area and later located Coble in the 2100 block of N 25th Street. Coble was arrested for Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery. The victim was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. Police continue to investigate circumstances surrounding the incident. The fact a person has been arrested or charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
