At approximately 4:30am on July 9th, Lafayette Police Officers responded to a battery in progress complaint in the 3000-block of Keyes Ct. Prior to the arrival of officers, another caller reported the sound of several gun shots and two vehicles fleeing the scene.
Officers located both vehicles and the occupants were detained for investigation. Damage from a bullet was located on one of the vehicles. There were no injuries. Investigation revealed that a black male wearing a white shirt and blue jeans was seen chasing another black male while firing a handgun at him. One bullet struck a vehicle, apparently unintentionally.
