[ARCHIVED] Armed Robbery Arrest

On Friday, August 26th, at approximately 11:17pm, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery near the intersection of N 9th St and Main St. Upon arriving, officers were advised that the victim had been approached while walking on Main St. The suspect confronted the victim and demanded money while displaying a firearm. After the victim surrendered his money, the suspect fled the scene southbound. The victim supplied officers with a good description of the suspect and firearm.

Officers quickly located the suspect at 9th St and South St, just two blocks away from the incident location. The suspect was detained and later arrested for armed robbery and theft. A BB gun was also located near the suspect and matched the description of the firearm used in the robbery.

There were no injuries reported during the incident.

Gene McCaulley (36 years old and of Chicago, IL)
- Armed Robbery
- Theft
