Shots Fired Investigation at Romney Meadow

- November 17th, 2016 at 10:25 pm

The Lafayette Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 500 block of Gordon Court in Romney Meadows. Police arrived and did not locate any victims and were told the suspects in the shooting had fled the apartment complex in a white van. Police conducted an initial investigation, locating spent shell casing evidence and interviewed witnesses. The shooting was reportedly over a personal matter between a man and a woman.

The Lafayette Police Department responded to the 600 block of Northchester Lane in Romney Meadows for a second call of shots fired, believed to be related to the prior call. Again, there were no victims located and no shell casings were found from the second shots fired complaint. Witness information taken during the second call did lead officers to a person of interest from the first call, Derrvick D. Fisher [24], listed as homeless in the jail remanding form.

The Lafayette Police S.W.A.T. was deployed and located Fisher in an apartment and arrested him for an outstanding warrant and trespassing. Fisher had been warned for trespass at Romney Meadows in February 2016. A second male, possibly involved in the shots fired complaint, was interviewed and released.

Officers located a weapon inside the apartment and seized it as possible evidence in the earlier incident. The investigation will continue and anyone with information is asked to contact the Lafayette Police Department at (765) 807-1200 or the anonymous We-Tip Hotline at (800) 78-CRIME.
