[ARCHIVED] Fugitive Arrest

On January 5th, at approximately 11:00pm, officers with the Lafayette Police Department attempted to locate a suspect wanted on four outstanding warrants. The suspect was identified as Keith George Grove (34 years old and of Lafayette). Officers with the Patrol Division and Street Crimes Unit located the subject in a residence in the 100-block of S 28th St. When contacted by officers, the subject fled to the basement and refused to come out. The suspect indicated that he had a firearm and made threats to shoot officers.

A search warrant was obtained for the residence and the Lafayette Police SWAT team was activated, in addition to the Crisis Negotiation Team. Entry was made to the residence and the suspect was arrested. No injuries were reported during the incident. The suspect was transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail. He was arrested for Resisting Law Enforcement, Disorderly Conduct, and Intimidation, in addition to the four active arrest warrants (three from LPD and one from the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department).

The fact a person has been arrested or charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
