Homicide Investigation – Update


- Event reported on January 16th, 2017 at 6:02 am

Lafayette Police responded to the 1600 block of Center Street for a reported shooting. Officers arrived and located a man, inside an apartment, who had sustained a gunshot injury. Emergency medical personnel transported the man to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

The Lafayette Police have identified the shooting victim at 52-year-old John Lawrence Byler of Lafayette. Tippecanoe County Coroner’s office will perform an autopsy tomorrow [1-17]. Detectives are continuing to investigate the case and ask anyone with information on this incident to contact the Lafayette Police Department at 765-807-1200 or the anonymous We-Tip Hotline at (800) 78-CRIME.
