Lafayette Police Outreach to Assist Men Recovering from Addiction
During the month of August the Lafayette Police Department will team up with the Trinity Life Ministry to meet some of the basic physical needs of the men in Trinity's addiction recovery program. The program is assisting a record number of men and is currently exploring opportunities in the local area to expand the residential program.
In order to better meet the needs of program participants, Trinity Life Ministry recently transitioned to a mandatory 12 month residential program. Programming includes, but is not limited to targeting the root causes of addiction and relapse, peer to peer counseling, mentoring, job training, and life skills development.
In support of this effort, the Lafayette Police Department is asking citizens to donate items for personal hygiene, which will then be given directly to the men in the recovery program.
The Lafayette Police will start the donation drive on August 1st. There will be a donation receptacle in the Lafayette Police Department lobby. The Lafayette area community generously responded by last year by donating an estimated 500 lbs. of hygiene items, all of which were transported to the Trinity Life Ministry to support the drug recovery program. This year we hope to be just as successful.
The Lafayette Police Department is proud to serve alongside the Trinity Life Ministry to help support these men recovering from drug addiction.
