Rape Suspect Arrested

On October 22nd the Lafayette Police investigated a report of a woman having been attacked and sexually assaulted in the 100 block of North Creasy Lane.  Police arrived and conducted interviews and collected evidence.  Detectives collected video surveillance from inside the Dollar General and isolated a person of interest in the footage.

On October 25th, Lafayette Police detectives, with the assistance and information from patrol officers, arrested 21-year-old Julio Pina of Lafayette for rape.  Pina was transported to the Tippecanoe County jail.  The case has been turned over to the Tippecanoe County Prosecutors Office to review for charges.

The fact a person has been arrested or charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
