Police Uncover Credibility Concerns with Attempted Abduction Report
On Tuesday, September 11th, the Lafayette Police Department responded to a report of an attempted abduction of a 13-year-old girl in the area of South 14th Street. Since that time, Lafayette Police Detectives assigned to the case, conducted interviews and collected evidence in an attempt to verify the allegation and identify lead information.
Detectives have determined there are inconsistencies with the initial report made to officers. Police have not discovered any evidence to indicate this incident occurred and have identified information to indicate the report was not factual in nature. Police are concluding the investigation and are no longer seeking the public’s assistance in looking for suspects related to this incident.
The Lafayette Police Department values the concern and assistance from the community. There is no danger or threat to the community in regards to this alleged incident.
