Lafayette Police Arrest Two on Drug and Weapon Charges

On February 8th at 6:52 pm Officers from the Lafayette Police Department were sent to 3216 Crosspoint Ct North to check on the well being of a child stemming from a child custody dispute. When officers arrived they could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the residence. 

Officers obtained a search warrant and located almost 4 pounds of marijuana, 6 schedule two pills, 7 firearms with a large amount of ammunition, and $68,227.00 in US currency.  

Officers arrested Darryl Evans 31, and Peyton Cruea 37.  They were arrested on the following charges:

Darryl Evans:

-Dealing marijuana 

-Possession of marijuana 

-Maintaining a common nuisance 

-Possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon


Peyton Cruea:

-Dealing marijuana 

-Possession of marijuana 

-Maintaining a common nuisance 

-Possession of a controlled substance 

Three children were located inside the residence. They were all turned over to the custody of a parent. Both Darryl Evans and Peyton Cruea were transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail.
