[ARCHIVED] Lafayette Police Hire 3 New Officers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                                                                  November 1, 2019


The following officers were sworn into the Lafayette Police Department by the Honorable Mayor Tony Roswarski on November 1, 2019.  These new officers will begin training within the Lafayette Police Department and the field training program on Monday, November 4th, 2019.  Officers Cain and Parrett are scheduled to attend the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in early 2020.


Officer Zachery Cain, Badge #467

Zachery is 27 years old and from Lafayette, Indiana.  Zachery is a 2010 graduate of Jefferson High School.  Zachery joined the United States Marine Corps in 2010 where he served as a Harrier jet mechanic.  Zachery is married and has two children. 


Officer Keifer Mikels, Badge #468 

Keifer is 28 years old and originally from the Lafayette area.  Keifer graduated from Frontier High School in 2009.  Keifer then attended and later graduated from St Joseph’s College in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.  Keifer has been a police officer with Purdue University for the last three years.  Keifer is married with one child.     


Officer Shai Parrett, Badge #469

Shai is 24 years old and from Wabash, Indiana.  Shai graduated from Wabash High School in 2014.  She later attended and graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Public Policy.  Shai was recently a corrections officer with Wabash County Sheriff’s Department.
