LHA Awarded over $430,000 in new HUD Housing Vouchers

The 70 additional vouchers representing rental assistance of $433,718 will be focused to assist non-elderly persons with disabilities obtain housing. Assistance will be directed particularly to those who are:

  • Transitioning out of institutional or other separated settings at serious risk of institutionalization;
  • Currently experiencing homelessness;
  • Currently a client in a permanent supportive housing or rapid rehousing project, having previously experienced homelessness; and
  • At risk of becoming homeless.

Lafayette Housing Authority currently administers 35 Mainstream vouchers; this latest addition will bring the total to 105.  LHA also administers other special purpose vouchers of which 33 are HUD-VASH vouchers for rental assistance for homeless veterans with case management and clinical services provided by local VA Medical Centers (VAMCs), community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs), or other entities as designated by the Secretary of the Department of Veteran Affairs.  The VA medical facility refers all eligible HUD-VASH families to the Lafayette Housing Authority.
