Spring 2020 LPD Citizens Academy

The Lafayette Police Department will be hosting the spring session of the Citizens Academy starting March 18th, 2020.  The Citizens Academy is an eight-week community outreach educational program. The Citizens Academy is a great opportunity for the public to learn about the various aspects of law enforcement, and includes topics such as police K-9, criminal investigations, SWAT, and CSI just to name a few.  During the course of the Academy, participants are encouraged to ride along with patrol officers on duty, allowing for a real life perspective on contemporary policing.

There is no cost for the course, but participants must be 18 years of age, and willing to submit to a background investigation.

The following is a link to the website for those wanting to register for the class.  The class size is limited and normally fills up quickly.  Anyone with questions about the LPD Citizens Academy can contact Lt. Matt Gard at (765) 807-1223.
