Board Members
Board of Public Works and Safety is the chief administrative body of the City of Lafayette government. Meetings are typically held every Tuesday at 9 AM in the Council Chambers on the 1st floor of Lafayette City Hall, with a caucus meeting held one half hour prior to the meeting in the Board of Works Room on the 2nd floor of Lafayette City Hall. Items may be added to the Board of Works Agenda until 2:00 p.m. on the Thursday prior to the meeting.

Its powers include oversight of the day-to-day operations of the following departments:

In addition, the Board of Public Works and Safety regulates traffic improvements, air pollution, water pollution, building inspection, animal control, and aviation. Members of the Board of Public Works and Safety are chosen by the Mayor of Lafayette, IN and serve at his pleasure.

If you would like to have an item (such as a request for additional streetlights, request for closure of a public road for a parade or celebration, etc.) added to the weekly Board of Public Works and Safety Meeting Agenda, please contact the City Clerk's Office.

The deadline for agenda items is each Thursday at 2:00p.m.
