The Human Resources Department is responsible for all employment issues within the City of Lafayette and currently supports 19 Departments with a total employment of over 500 employees.
The department is responsible for the administration of employee benefit programs such as health insurance, including medical, dental, and vision; and life insurance and retirement plans. These benefits are administered for active and former employees.

Many other aspects of employment are maintained and administered from within the Human Resources Department. These include: City Employee Policies and Procedures, Salary Administration, Union/Labor Relations, Training, and Performance Management.
