On the above date at approximately 0147am, officers with the Lafayette Police Department Street Crimes Unit investigated a complaint of illegal narcotics activity at 1125 S 2nd St. Officers arrived and during the investigation, they spoke with the resident, identified as William Hayenga. While inside the residence, officers observed marijuana and paraphernalia in plain view. A search warrant was obtained for the residence. Once the warrant served, officers located a marijuana grow operation in the upstairs rooms of this residence.

During the search, officers located 64 marijuana plants, 805 grams of marijuana, 42 grams of psilocybin, scales, baggies for packaging, other forms of controlled substances (prescription pills), and varies items of paraphernalia.

Mr. Hayenga was arrested for dealing and possession of schedule I, dealing and possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of paraphernalia.


The Lafayette Police Department would like to thank all concerned citizens who report suspicious activity in the city and recognize the invaluable community partnerships needed to keep our city safe.
