PROSPECT LEAGUE BASEBALL COMING TO LAFAYETTE’S LOEB STADIUM SUMMER OF 2016!

For most big league ball players their prospect debuts begin or continue in summer wood bat leagues across the nation. With 50 different summer collegiate leagues all around the US and Canada it’s a big business and a major driver towards the scouting and development of future MLB stars. Of the 50 plus leagues, only a select few drive the bulk of the collegiate prospects. Towards the top of that list is a league named the Prospect League, the league that will be coming to the great City of Lafayette.

MKE Sports & Entertainment, a sports and entertainment company headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is excited to announce that Prospect League baseball is coming to Lafayette’s Loeb Stadium. Under the deal, MKE Sports & Entertainment will bring and operate an expansion team playing in the Prospect League beginning in the summer of 2016.

"The Prospect League has been targeting Lafayette and Loeb Stadium for three years now," said Prospect League Commissioner Bryan Wickline. "The Greater Lafayette area is a great fit inside our footprint and compliments nicely with Kokomo as well as our other Indiana and eastern Illinois territories. MKE Sports and Entertainment has hit another one out of the park and we can't wait for the 2016 season to commence! We think the Prospect League's brand of baseball will be exciting for the fans of the new baseball team in the Greater Lafayette area."

"The City of Lafayette is very excited about the new partnership with MKE Sports,” said City of Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski. “Building more entertainment opportunities for Loeb Stadium is an essential part of cultivating quality of life in our community. Providing our residents and local families yet another option for recreation and entertainment is wonderful, and knowing that the stadium now has the potential to grow through multisport endeavors and improvements helps stimulate local investment. Lafayette is a strong, proud baseball town and we can’t wait to welcome new members to the team.”

Michael Zimmerman, Founder and CEO of MKE Sports & Entertainment stated, "We are very excited about the opportunity to bring baseball to the great City of Lafayette. We evaluated a number of markets this past year and Lafayette stood out above them all. We are grateful for the opportunity and look forward to a very long history with the community."

MKE Sports & Entertainment has also launched a contest to seek community input for the team nickname. Fans can visit www.LafayetteBaseball.com to submit their team name for a chance to win a $1,000 cash prize.

The team name, colors and logo will be unveiled at a special event; exact date and location will be announced. Season tickets can be reserved on a first come, first serve basis by submitting a $100 deposit online as well.
