[ARCHIVED] LPD arrests woman for Neglect and Public Intoxication

On Wednesday November 25, 2015 at approximately 0103 hours, an officer with the Lafayette Police Department was patrolling in the area of Lincoln Street/Thompson Street. The officer observed a female wearing pajamas walking down the middle of the street with a small child. The officer stopped to investigate due to the cold weather, and the fact that the child was dressed only in a t-shirt. Upon further investigation, the officer determined that the woman had a second child, an infant, with her underneath her bath robe. The female was intoxicated. Stephanie Miller, age 28 of Lafayette, was subsequently arrested on charges of Public Intoxication and Neglect of a Dependent. Department of Child Services personnel were contacted and assisted with the investigation.

Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is asked to call the Lafayette Police Department at 765-807-1200. Individuals can also contact the anonymous WeTip Hotline at 1-800-78 Crime.

The fact a person(s) has been arrested or charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant(s) is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
