On July 3rd, at about 2:08 am, the Lafayette Police responded to a report of a strong armed robbery at the Speedway gas station at 1901 Elmwood Avenue. There was no weapon displayed and no injuries reported. The alleged suspect, described as a black male, mid-twenties, 6’01, and thin build, reportedly walked around the counter, pushed the clerk, and stole money from the cash drawer.
Witnesses reported the alleged suspect fled the store on foot, with an undisclosed amount of cash, southbound on North 19th St toward Salem Street. Police conducted a K-9 search, but did not locate the alleged suspect.
