[ARCHIVED] Armed Robbery Arrest

At approximately 10:26 PM on Thursday, July 14, 2016, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery near the area of Holloway Street and Owen Street. The victim reported that while walking in the area with her juvenile son, a black male approached them, displayed a firearm, and demanded money and property. The suspect obtained property from the victims, and fled the scene on foot. Neither victim was injured in this incident. Officers continued their investigation in the area, and located the suspect at a residence in the 1400-blk of Broadway Street.

Arrested was Deshawn A. Rutley, age 21, of Lafayette, Indiana. Rutley is preliminarily charged with Robbery with a Firearm X2, Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon X2, and Theft. Rutley was also charged for an outstanding felony warrant. Rutley was transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail and remanded on those charges.
