Lafayette Police responded to the 600 block of South 24thStreet around 8:30 am on Sunday, January 22nd for a report of adomestic disturbance.   Police arrivedand found a female victim who had injuries consistent with a knife wound.   The initial case facts and evidence ledofficers to investigate the matter as a domestic violence incident.  

The reported female victim and the alleged male suspect weretransported to local hospitals for injuries. Police conducted an investigation and arrested Diamonte W. Baker [25 yrsold] for Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery, Confinement, and Intimidation.

The female remained the in the hospital to receive treatmentfor her injuries.  Baker was released fromthe hospital and transported to the Tippecanoe County jail.  The case has been turned over to theTippecanoe County Prosecutors office to review for charges.  The police ask anyone with information onthis incident to contact (765) 807-1200 or the anonymous We-Tip Hotline at(800) 78-Crime.
