Fireworks

With the upcoming Fourth of July holiday approaching it is a good time to remind everyone of when fireworks are allowed to be set off in the city.  State law sets the minimum allowable time that fireworks are allowed to be used, the City of Lafayette ordinance follows these requirements.  We encourage all residents to be safe and courteous of their neighbors when setting off fireworks.  I am attaching the ordinance that covers when fireworks are allowed to be used.  If you have any questions I am available to assist if needed.

Between the hours of five p.m. and two hours after sunset on June 29, June 30, July 1, July 2, July 3, July 5, July 6, July 7, July 8 and July 9;

Between the hours of ten a.m. and twelve midnight on July 4; and

Between the hours of ten a.m. on December 31 and one a.m. on January 1.

Violations of this ordinance are subject to seizure of the fireworks and a fine of up to $250.00.
