On August 2nd, at approximately 3:36pm, the Lafayette Police Department received a call regarding a suspicious package in the Pavilions Shopping Center at 100 S Creasy Ln. The suspicious package had been located in a vehicle parked near the Armed Forces Recruiting Center. Officers arrived and cleared the parking lot of pedestrians and surrounding businesses of patrons. The Tippecanoe County Bomb Squad was called to assist. Bomb technicians arrived at the scene and rendered the package safe. It was later determined not to be explosive in nature.
