Columbian Park Zoo hosts Lizard Appreciation Day
LAFAYETTE, IN – August 11, 2017 – Columbian Park Zoo is set to unveil Lizard Appreciation Day on Monday, August 14, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Lizard Appreciation Day is a new free family-friendly conservation event at Columbian Park Zoo. The event will work to inform the public about the risks of wildlife trafficking.
During Lizard Appreciation Day, visitors can meet some of the Zoo’s lizard ambassadors at the Kiwanis EdZOOcation Station, and enjoy family-friendly activities in the DeFouw Education Center. Visitors can also take an imaginary trip to Australia to meet some iconic “Down Under” lizards and explore wildlife artifacts from around the world!
Lizard Appreciation Day, also called World Lizard Day, is a globally recognized event that is celebrated on August 14 every year. This day is typically celebrated by educating the public about the more than 4600 lizard species worldwide and how individuals can assist with conservation efforts.
