Robbery Investigation & Arrest

On December 4, 2018 at approximately 1:30am, Lafayette Police responded to the Shell Gas Station at 245 S. 4th street for an attempted armed robbery.  According to the clerk who was not injured, a white male entered the business and demanded money while armed with handgun.  The clerk refused and the male fled the store, firing one round at the clerk who was protected behind the bullet resistant glass.

The suspect was described as having a beard and wearing gloves, gray pants, and a gray hooded sweatshirt.  Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

At approximately 10:19am Lafayette Police received a call for a check wellbeing at 318 S. 5th street.  It was a reported that a male subject was bleeding from the leg.  Upon arrival officers located 29 year old Levi Darrin Greenup with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his leg.  Greenup was taken in to custody for possession of methamphetamine and transported to Saint Elizabeth East Hospital for treatment.

Levi Greenup matched the description of the robbery suspect, to include the clothing he was wearing when located by police. The investigation by detectives of the robbery, along with the nature of Greenup’s injuries are under investigation.
